The council emphasized that the Governor’s remarks reflected the sentiments of the average northerner, particularly those in the North Central region, who feel disproportionately affected by the economic policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. According to the statement the economy is already in shambles, and northerners are bearing the brunt of anti-people policies adding that, Governor Bala Mohammed has every right to speak on behalf of his people as a sub national leader within this government.

 

The NCCC criticized reactions labeling Governor Mohammed’s remarks as a “threat,” urging the presidency to listen to his concerns as they represent the frustrations of citizens facing harsh economic realities. It warned that continued implementation of policies like the Tax Reform Bills could erode northern support for President Tinubu. The council reaffirmed its solidarity with Governor Bala Mohammed and urged the presidency to prioritize equitable development and fair policy implementation across all regions.
